Electronics Design
Tutorial by Nicolas De Coster.
This section provides resources and tutorials for designing printed circuit boards (PCBs). There are a few popular toolchains in the Fab network:
- KiCad – an open‑source, community‑driven EDA suite licensed under the GPL. It runs on Windows, macOS and Linux and is the strongly recommended, multiplatform option. Learn more in the KiCad FabLib tutorial.
- SVGPCB – a browser‑based editor hosted by Fab Cloud at https://pcb.fabcloud.io. No installation is required and it is convenient for quick, lightweight designs.
- Eagle – proprietary software from Autodesk. Historical documentation is provided below, but it may be quite outdated compared to current versions.
Pick the workflow that suits your project; if you are unsure where to start, KiCad is the default choice.
