Chat: Mattermost

This is the main chat platform for Academany programs. It is used for communication between students, instructors, and staff.

August 2026 Update your account login​

In August 2026, we will upgraded Mattermost to a new version that does not support the current "login with GitLab" access we have been using with user accounts. Therefore, everyone needs to follow the below steps to update their accounts to use a password as the login method. Everything else about their mattermost account will remain the same.

Migrate account to use a password​

  1. In the web browser, once logged-in open your profile

  1. Click security tab and edit the sign-in method

  1. Click on the big "Switch to Password" button

  1. Enter a new password for your mattermost account (make it unique and save/update it in your password manager)

  1. Success, you have switched to using a password to login! Try to login
